Sovran Building Systems Supports WTXL Turkey Drive 2018

Headquartered in Tallahassee, Florida, Sovran Building Systems is a full service turn-key shell contractor doing business across the Southeast. The construction firm also actively supports a number of charitable institutions and initiatives. Last year, Sovran Building Systems donated $1,000 to the WTXL Turkey Drive 2018, which raised $23,565 and produced 442 turkeys, enough for 94,260 meals.

The WTXL Turkey Drive, held each year a week before Thanksgiving, is an initiative of Tallahassee local television station WTXL. It partnered with Second Harvest on their 5th Annual Turkey Drive. Throughout the day on November 15, concerned individuals accepted monetary donations and frozen turkey at a designated location along Ponce De Leon Park in downtown Tallahassee. Proceeds were handed over to Second Harvest of the Big Bend.

Second Harvest then divided and distributed the turkeys among its partner agencies who have soup or food pantries in Leon County. Food was then given to people in need so they could have a nice meal on Thanksgiving Day.

The previous year’s turkey drive produced $22,000 and 358 turkeys collected. What made the 2018 drive special was that among the recipients were many affected by Hurricane Michael.
